Lawyer vs ChatGPT
I it's important to have a discussion to understand what a exactly I do for clients as a lawyer, especially what I do that artificial intelligence not. Do with certainty.
1. you hire an attorney for certainty the Internet does not offer this. The Internet has a collaboration of information that to which it is become adept at compiling with interesting interestingly positive results. The problem is, the Internet is not accountable for its mistakes. I am responsible for my mistakes. That is why an attorney must go through an arduous process to be licensed to practice law. ChatGPT is not licensed to practice law. ChatGPT cannot give you your money back. you cannot file a complaint against ChatGPT when it errors. ChatGPT cannot lose its livelihood. ChatGPT cannot be sued or in worst case scenarios even charged with a crime. I, however, I'm accountable in all these potential ways. As a result, my answers and advocacy contains certainty. And when they do not, you know it's for a reason.
2. It's important to clarify that my legal representation does not include finding loopholes to escape the law. too often, people assume this is the goal of my accumulated knowledge and experience. it is not.
3. My service is too fold: fuerst, I bring clients into compliance with the law wherever possible. This means I must know what constitutes adequate compliance with the law not based based on existing federal, state, local, and sometiems internaional statutes, but how federal, state, local, and sowmtimes int'l Court jurisdictions have interpreted the law in a clients particular fact situation or close to it. I have encountered many clients who have been out of compliance and requires advice to bring themselves into it. Other times, the work is more involved than complicated. Sometimes, clients believed they were out of compliance, but actually were. this situations and more are at the core of an attorney's analysis, and also the art form that consist of what we call "Jurisprudence." it is a totality of factors known and unknown. That requires not just knowledge, but critical thinking, experience, which is often localized, and wisdom, and sometimes even character.
3. once a total assessment has been conducted, work is then done to bring a client into compliance. This means working with their particular needs, and also individual capacities to bring themselves into compliance. Many clients can be given a list of things to do and they simply provide the information. Others are completely incapable of even going through a list, either due to lack of experience, confidence, emotional capacity, and the list goes on. This is where my work as a counselor and similar to bedside manner makes the difference in a case.
4. and that is just the beginning. Once the matter has developed, advice, game plan, and the law analyze, a lawyer must then know how to present the matter to a court, mediator, or government agency. An attorneys experience in a particular court, or agency, and a court or agencies experience and trust in that attorney, make a critical difference between a positive or negative outcome, particularly when there is discretion involved in the decision standard. The attorney must know skilled at presenting sometimes complex information to an individual who has little time to review a matter because of their own caseload. This is just reality. An attorney speaks the language of the person receiving this information and advocacy.
